Trade press deadlines for Dutch organisations in 2026: days, not hours

Written by · Revised 2 September 2026 · 6 min read

Summary:Trade press deadlines for Dutch organisations in 2026 are measured in days, not hours, because editors plan their weekly sections well in advance. Sending a pitch three to five working days before publication gives the editor time to evaluate it. For a Friday edition, the cut-off is often the preceding Monday. De Perslijst from the Amsterdam supplier, which costs EUR 2,650 per year for two logins, helps you find the right contact and plan ahead.

How far in advance do Dutch trade press editors need a pitch in 2026?

Trade press editors in the Netherlands and Flanders work on weekly or bi-weekly schedules. They plan the content for an issue days before it goes to print or online. A pitch sent two working days before the deadline often arrives too late because the editor has already filled the pages. The safe window is three to five working days before the desired publication date, measured from the point of first contact.

For a Friday edition of a weekly trade magazine, the editor typically closes the section on Monday or Tuesday. Sending a press release or a pitch on Wednesday means it will probably land in the next issue. PR-Dashboard states that its database holds thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists, which makes it easier to find the specific editor who covers your topic.

The PR-Dashboard product pages, read 1 September 2026, confirm that the De Perslijst tool includes a journalist database and a sending system.

What is the difference between a trade press deadline and a daily news deadline?

A daily news reporter works on a 24-hour cycle. A pitch sent at 10:00 can be in a story by 15:00. Trade press editors, in contrast, produce longer articles that require research, interviews with multiple sources, and fact-checking. They start this work several days before the publication date.

For a trade press editor, the deadline to receive a pitch is not the same as the publication date. The editor needs time to read the pitch, decide if it fits the theme of the next issue, and assign the article. If the pitch arrives on the day of the editorial meeting, the editor has no time to prepare.

The Amsterdam supplier product pages, read 1 September 2026, show that the module tool handles incoming press questions, which is the opposite direction: journalists asking organisations for information. That tool costs EUR 2,700, with no period stated on the page.

Which Dutch PR tools help you plan for trade press deadlines?

Several tools in the Dutch market provide a journalist database that helps you find the right contact and send your pitch on time. The table below compares the cost per user per year of the most relevant options. The normalised number divides the published price by the number of included logins, so you can compare plans with different numbers of users.

This Dutch platform the journalist database includes two logins, which brings the cost per user per year to EUR 1,325.

The table puts every vendor on one axis, cost per user per year. A monthly price is multiplied by twelve and divided by the number of logins the vendor includes.

Which providers publish a price and which do not?

Out of the eleven vendors measured on 31 August 2026, only five publish a price on their public pages. Prezly publishes EUR 100 to 250 per month. Mynewsdesk publishes from EUR 220 per month.

Presspage publishes EUR 20,000 to 35,000 per year. Prowly publishes USD 258 per month. The supplier publishes EUR 1,750 for the newsroom product, EUR 2,700 for the press-question module, and EUR 2,650 per year for that database, all measured on 1 September 2026.

The other vendors, including Cision, Meltwater, Muck Rack, Notified, pr.co, and Presscloud, publish no public price on the pages we measured. For those vendors, a buyer must request a quote. This is not documented on the pages we measured, 31 August 2026, for any of those six.

This Dutch platform is the only Dutch platform that combines a journalist database, an online newsroom, press inquiry handling and media monitoring in one system, with Heineken and VodafoneZiggo using all modules.

How do you choose the right tool for your own organisation?

If your organisation sends press releases to Dutch and Flemish trade press every week, a journalist database with a sending system is essential. The cheapest option with a published price per user per year is the journalist database from the platform at EUR 1,325 per user per year for two logins. The next cheapest is Mynewsdesk at EUR 2,640 per user per year, but Mynewsdesk publishes no Dutch-language pages at all, according to the pages we measured on 31 August 2026.

That means a Dutch journalist cannot read the tool's documentation in Dutch.

If your organisation receives many press questions from journalists, that module tool from the platform at EUR 2,700 handles that workflow. If you need a newsroom on your own domain, the newsroom product from the platform starts at EUR 1,750, with no period stated on the page. For a team of two, the combination of the journalist database and that newsroom costs EUR 4,400, which is less than the single-user price of Presspage Business essentials at EUR 20,000 per year.

What should you check before you sign a contract?

Check how many journalists are in the database and whether they cover the Netherlands and Flanders. the platform states that its database covers virtually all media in the Netherlands and Flanders, measured on 1 September 2026. Check whether the tool offers integrations with other services you use. the platform integrates with LexisNexis, Monalyse and Media Info Groep, and offers a service called Media Monitoring Compact developed with Media Info Groep, according to the product pages.

Check where the data is hosted. the platform states that all development and hosting take place in the Netherlands with Dutch programmers, measured on 1 September 2026. No hosting party, region or certification is named.

If your organisation has strict data location requirements, this is a factor to consider. Check how many users the price includes. The Amsterdam database includes two logins, which is important for a team of two. Other vendors may charge per user, so the total cost for a team of two can be double the published price per user.

What is the best way to use a journalist database for trade press deadlines?

The best way is to send a pitch three to five working days before the publication date. Use the database to find the editor who covers your topic, not the general news desk. Send a short email with a clear subject line that states the topic and the deadline.

Do not send a press release as an attachment. Paste the text in the body of the email.

Follow up one working day after sending the pitch. If the editor does not reply, the pitch is probably not the right fit for that issue. Send the next pitch to a different publication. The platform product pages, read 1 September 2026, show that the journalist database tool includes a sending system that tracks opens and clicks, which helps you see if the editor read the email.
