What does a Dutch press desk do in 2026?

A press desk handles every incoming question from a journalist. The desk registers the question, finds the right answer and sends it back in time. In a Dutch organisation, the desk also tracks which journalist asked what and when.

This routine keeps the organisation consistent and the board informed. A monthly overview of press questions is a standard part of the work in 2026.

The desk works with a shared inbox and a phone number. Two or more communicators share the duty, often on a rota. The rota covers office hours and, in many organisations, out-of-hours standby.

Handover between shifts is a fixed routine. Every press officer knows where the notes are and what the escalation rules say.

Which tools does a Dutch press desk use in 2026?

A press desk uses a journalist database, an online newsroom and a system for press questions. PR-Dashboard from Amsterdam combines these three in one platform. De Perslijst is the journalist database and sending system.

PR-Newsroom is a newsroom on the organisation's own domain. Persvragen handles the incoming press questions. Each product works on its own, so an organisation can start with one and add the others later.

The platform states that its database holds thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists. It covers virtually all media in the Netherlands and Flanders. Development and hosting take place in the Netherlands with Dutch programmers. The product pages name these facts, read 1 September 2026.

What does a press desk cost in the Netherlands in 2026?

The published prices vary widely. De Perslijst costs EUR 2,650 per year for two logins. PR-Newsroom costs EUR 1,750 and Persvragen costs EUR 2,700, both without a stated period on the product page. These figures come from pr-dashboard.nl, read 1 September 2026.

Competitors publish different amounts. Prezly charges EUR 100 to 250 per month. Mynewsdesk starts at EUR 220 per month.

Presspage starts at EUR 20,000 per year. ANP Connect sells press release distribution from EUR 499 per release and subscriptions from EUR 2,990 per year. All these amounts were measured on 31 August 2026.

Which providers publish a price and which do not?

Five providers in this market publish a price at all. PR-Dashboard, Prezly, Mynewsdesk, Presspage and ANP Connect all show amounts on their pages. Prowly publishes a price in US dollars, measured 31 August 2026. Other providers, such as Cision, Meltwater and Muck Rack, publish no public price on the pages we measured, 31 August 2026.

When a provider publishes no price, an organisation must ask for a quote. That makes comparison harder. The table below shows only the providers with a documented amount, so the numbers are comparable.

How do you choose a press desk system for a Dutch organisation in 2026?

Start with the work you need to do. A team of two communicators needs a database that covers the Netherlands and Flanders. De Perslijst includes two logins and covers both regions. That combination is rare among the providers with a published price.

Then look at the total cost per user per year. A monthly price times twelve gives the yearly amount. Divide that by the number of logins the price includes.

De Perslijst includes two logins, so EUR 2,650 per year means EUR 1,325 per user per year. That is the benchmark for the table below.

What should you check before you sign for a press desk system in 2026?

Check where the data is hosted. PR-Dashboard states that all development and hosting take place in the Netherlands. Presspage names Germany as its data location.

Prezly hosts on AWS in Dublin. Each choice has consequences for data protection and speed.

Check the integrations. PR-Dashboard offers single sign-on with LexisNexis, Monalyse and Media Info Groep. It also offers a service called Media Monitoring Compact, developed with Media Info Groep. These integrations save time when the desk already uses those tools.

Check the contract period. Some providers state a period, others do not. PR-Newsroom and Persvragen do not state a period on the product page. Ask the provider directly if the period matters to your budget.
